Earlier this week, it was reported that Adele's third studio album, rumored to be titled
25, would be an iTunes-exclusive release that would drop out of nowhere, similar to Beyoncé's self-titled fifth studio album that dropped back in December of 2013 on iTunes with no previous indication of a release. The Chairman of Columbia Records, the record label that distributes Adele's albums in the US, however, did a recent interview in which he confirmed that there was no release date for the album yet, however she would not be surprise-releasing like Beyoncé.
Quote:
What do you anticipate as the biggest releases for the remainder of 2014?
Obviously we’ll go back to the well with One Direction, as long as they keep making great records. "Story of My Life" is their biggest breakthrough record; we’ve proved we make them stick at radio, with more than 100m audience. I have to be cryptic here, but we will have releases from one or two superstar artists, at least.
Does that include Adele? And will that record be a "sneak attack"?
There’s no release date for Adele yet. It’s going extremely well. That said, I don’t think it’s going to be a sneak attack when it comes out.

Are you glad Adele isn't surprise-releasing
25 like Beyoncé, or did you want her to drop her album out of nowhere?
