I think we've all sensed a change in direction with the music, interviews, and general outlook on life ever since she embraced it around '95 or so. However, I was too young to really see her pre-Kabbalah slayage. Thus, I had to look up old videos and clips of her from the early to mid-90s to really see what she was like and dang, I was impressed.
Revealing she had no one in her life she can turn to other than her sister.
Dragging Ruby Wax the whole interview.
Her seething at not being #1...
The Bedtime Stories era, which was Madonna at her most subdued, romantic, depressed, yet strong/empowered?
...and of course, the classic David Letterman interview.
Her being angry, vulnerable, and raw is something I wish to see again.
So, what about you guys? Are you thinking something died in her since her embrace of her new spiritual outlook in life or is her current self an improvement?
No, she gave us Ray of Light, Confessions & American Life albums
I only want "Dita" back on a few tacks But she's totally coming through again
Don't get me wrong, the music has been on point, but those eras were missing the "signature" Madonna personality that gave her much respect in the eyes of the GP. I regret missing when she was a strong take-no-prisoners megabitch (this is a compliment), as seen in the Human Nature music video.

She embraced that part of her again during MDNA section of Vogue-Candyshop/Erotica-Human Nature
I liked her aura and vocals from the 80s-mid90s more than her later years but she still churned out some decent stuff post-ROL.
One big thing I have noticed is how average and/or forgettable her visuals have become over the past 10 years. Die Another Day is the last really good Madonna video imo.
The interviews in the OP are so fantastic and revealing and really show what Madonna is really about, especially the first one, everyone should watch them I'm sure you will enjoy them.
Yes! I want that LAP/Blond Ambition/Erotica attitude back, it was so fun. It comes out in little blips when she's seething in interviews and at fans but that's it.

I can only hope that now that it has been a few years since her divorce, she can gain the swagger she used to have back. I mean, the process is already beginning.
