@ThePopZone I can see why it comes across as ‘shade’, there were a few translation issues w that interview, and an intermittent transatlantic phone line, and I was being a bit blunt.
But the thing is, i had to contact you back, because I adore KP, and did from a long way back! Initially because of her wacky website of all things, then because I love perfect pop being done perfectly! I’m with u guys! However, I do feel that what she does so brilliantly is tied up creatively with a zesty ‘marketingness' which is a actually an intrinsic part of her own undeniable pop gift. The problem arises, and this is what I was trying to put across in the interview, when artists, ‘big’ artists, sort of panic some time after they’ve been surprising themselves with new levels of unfettered creativity in the studio, and then worry that that the fans won’t ‘get it’ and will demonstrate their ire by not buying the record. Or worry that the label won’t get it. And therefore not stand behind the record with marketing costs etc,
