Yes, but I think Steven should come back an reboot it himself or do a re-imaging. I'm surprised it hasn't be done already because the franchise is about 200 million away from being a Billion dollar franchise.
If it isnt' a cheap rip off it would be a monster shark hit. It would need real actors and a really nice scary but realistic shark. If they made this it would be HUGGEEE. Can you imagine the media all over it? This is the only movie that could pull off a Beyoncé.
Normally I think "If it ain't broke don't fix it" but i genuinely think a Jaws re-make could be really great. If they totally re-booted it and modernized the film, they could be on to something.
As someone else said, the shark shouldn't be CGI - that's too easy! They should pay homage to the original and actually use animatronics. I think with a decent cast, and a new image and clever marketing, they could create something really great.
