What happened to previously mentioned Rising? I don't like this title change. Rising would've been a better choice of words to fit the trend of the past 4 films.

But also, I think this title change might be effective and smart. It will grab attention and make people want to go see it because it's finally the end of the never ending spawning "horrible sequels that shouldn't have been made by [Paul W.S. Anderson]. I read a lot of critics and fans who complain it's a bad adaption of the video games and the direction/acting is flawed. With 'Rising' it will cause a lot of "Oh it's just another Resident Evil film, blah blah same stuff, they need to just reboot it, I'm not seeing this."

I also think it was effective for the Saw saga. Look at this:

It continued to climb, like Resident Evil, after it got it's initial word of mouth impact, but eventually people got sick of seeing Saw's every year, same boring typical stuff, right? By the 4th outing, it started to see a decline. Dropping. If they left it as Saw 7 (numerical) it probably would've raked in less than 68m, but because they decided to finally end the saga, people got curious about how it was going to all end they went out and saw it. It doubled it's profits.

Now with this new final chapter, do you think it will end with a bang and end up breaking 300m WW?! Or will it continue to drop? After Afterlife, it seems like the public is getting tired of the same old same old. Or are these numbers skewed and have nothing in correlation with each other and it's more about "Word of mouth." I know Retribution was a mess and people probably said bad things about it. Opinions?

I don't even remember the last movie, what happen?

Alice is abducted/captured by Umbrella in their secret facility underneath ice. Wesker helps her escape, while Alice finally meets Ada Wong who is also helping her. Leon, Barry and Luther also help by infiltrating Umbrella's facility to retrieve her.

Umbrella clones all the people from the first movie including Rain, which happened to have a good and a bad Rain. There's a bunch of different testing environments in which Ada Wong and Alice go through, so to speak, as in trials and try to escape each other to progress through the facility.

Becky, Alice's "daughter," also plays a key role in this film as we know nothing really about this, only that it was the clone of Alice's role. The real Alice eventually attaches to her "daughter." Jill Valentine is corrupted and controlled by the thing on her chest, who tries to capture the escaped Alice and the fugitive Ada Wong who is helping her (along with the bad clones from the 1st film).

Chris and Claire and K-Mart are no where in the film and there's nothing in it that implies where Umbrella is holding them captive. When they escape there is an epic 12 minute battle sequence between Alice/Jill and Luther/Leon and Bad Rain. They fly to Washington to find Wesker portraying to be the President who injects her with T-Virus to get her powers back and defeat Umbrella, but we all know Wesker is up to something and doesn't really want to help mankind, nor Alice. It's just a ploy of his to get on "her side."

The end of the movie is Leon, Jill, Alice, Wesker and Ada standing on top of the Washington building, over looking a destructive world plagued by flying bat like creatures (from the 5th game) and huge Lickers with tons of zombies trying to attack them, and long torches of fire beams spraying down these bad guys, while flying helicopters are crashing left and right from the bats.

I absolutely worship this franchise, I think it's great and there is a story at heart. However, Retribution was a plotless mess that had practically zero impact on the wider story of how the world was going to be saved. It was all contained in this dumb underwater Umbrella facility . Best thing about the movie is the beautiful slow-motion reversed intro, when I saw it at the cinema (in 3D of course) I got a little emotional seeing all the "survivors" being blown to bits, and to think they were [i]just[/it] saved!

Deliver me some fresh Milla Jovovich in tight spandex ASAP!

The last one was really bad, and was just an excuse to put cool 3D graphics. I'm glad it's the end it was a great series but it's starting to get the milking cow treatment.

Well if you enjoyed the previous installments, you'll enjoy this one. It lacks character development, direction and no dialogue present, but tons of actions after another with 3D effects. I personally enjoy it for what it had to offer, but was a bit disappointed because it seemed like an intermission to the final film. I think it was rushed and was just released just so we can see Alice escape and throw in the dead characters for no reason at all from the 1st film to get more profits?

I will say though the final sequences really does set it up for the final film. The last 15 minutes is purely insane and epic. The 12 minute scene between Alice and Jill goes on forever and is really choreographed. They probably put more effort into that fight sequence than the overall film itself.

Paul better write a better script. We need closure. Who IS Alice? What's in her past? Why is she immune to the T-Virus and why can she have these powers? Who is Becky? Why is Umbrella doing this? Where is Chris and Claire? Will we see some actual Leon / Ada chemistry like in the 4th game? (They hinted it at the end of Retribution) Why is Wesker 'helping' Alice and giving her powers back? Why is the Red Queen still alive and sending these mutants and creatures against Alice and the team? So many more questions! Paul better do less action and more dialogue!

Can we just do a reboot with a good director/screenwriters?

Ch, I like the movies and all but I ran in here thinking this was a new game.

Hey, for the people who have commented, do you think it's impact with the new title change will effect it's overall gross at the box office or is there no correlation between the two?

I threw Saw on here as an example, since Retribution did less profits than Afterlife which shows a decrease in ticket sales...

But I'm all here for a final outing of Alice in tight leather suits kicking zombie ass with her powers again. Along with Jill Valentine, Ada Wong and Leon Kennedy.

And maybe an epic fight between Alice and Wesker (transformed into a monster form like in the end of the 5th game) that ultimately ends the Alice's character and Leon and Jill end up defeating Wesker like in the game.

I will cry in this film, no doubt about it. I'm so attached to Alice.

In Afterlife, Wesker could've easily finished off Alice, but he didn't. He had powers, she lost her powers, she was only mere human. Wesker didn't want to destroy Alice at her weakest time, it wouldn't have been right for him. He wanted a challenge. He wanted to end her with a fair fight. He lets Alice "defeat" himself, but in reality he wasn't defeated he escaped via airplane which Alice then denotes with a bomb and she thinks she won again. So he gets Alice to escape and then gives her back her powers.

He then probably will have Alice defeat the Red Queen (along with the zombies/monsters that come in her path) and then when Wesker reigns (as ruler of Umbrella) he's going to defeat Alice in a fair fight, powers to powers. Then Leon and Jill Valentine, after Alice weakens Wesker, comes into play and defeats him after finding a way (like in the 5th ending in the game).



I am a genius, do you think that is the idea behind why Afterlife and Retribution happened? Like Wesker wouldn't want that on his "resume." I defeated Alice when she "lost" her powers. He wouldn't feel right with that. It's WESKER after all.
