I don't even know what to say at this point. There have been so many times where someone has made a rape joke in front of Angela - I feel like by letting you know her name, the seriousness and gravity of this issue will sink in a bit more - and she's gone bright red. Her eyes fill up with tears and I can see that she's doing everything in her power to fight them off. I can see what she's thinking. Her mood is completely ruined and she just says "can we leave?" or "can we go home?" She's even told me that she's been at the park with her family before, and a male dog has randomly started humping a female dog and everyone started laughing, except her. They're just dogs mating. But it reminded her of when she was raped. Even though it was two years ago, she won't go to the police because she knows the guy, she doesn't want to ruin his life and she doesn't want everyone to hate her. They were just making out, drunk, and then he took it too far, and despite saying her repeatedly saying no, he kept going. She weighs like 45kg (100lbs) so it's not like she could fight him off.

You don't think I've tried every day for the past 2 years? You don't think she's been in counselling for this? It doesn't just go away. You don't just "focus on the rape victim" rather than trying to eradicate rape culture wherever it is. That's a ridiculous comment. Please. Stop defending this.

edit: And how exactly do you suggest I "protect Angela" from all this? I have my own life to live and I can't always be there for her, checking her Facebook feed to make sure there's no music videos that are insensitive to rape victims, or checking the dog park to make sure there are no dogs having sex. I can't approach a group of people before she does and say "hey guys, just to let you know, Ang was raped 2 years ago so please be super careful about making rape jokes." Everything I do to help that girl out is reactive. I can't do anything proactive. It's always responding to something that has brought up her memories. I can't prevent those memories from being brought up. The only way to do that is to speak up against rape culture.

If you were raped in an alley, I'm incredibly sorry. I've witness first hand how it can ruin someone's life. But I really question why, as a rape victim, you would let this slide. I would think even Gaga stans who've been raped would speak out against rape culture wherever it was presented.

You do not speak for all rape victims. Like I said above, my friend sinks into depression whenever she sees two dogs having sex. She hasn't been able to have sex since. Her rape wasn't even in an alley by two strangers like yours apparently was. She knew the guy and it has still completely ruined her life.

It gives you the right to judge for yourself, but not for other people. Obviously Gaga knew what was going on when she was filming, but it appears that she doesn't, she's acting passed out. Why did she agree to it? I don't know, the important thing is that she didn't release it.
