Where did all these female rap fans go? In the 1990's - early 2000's, the music industry was literally dominated by female rappers, ranging from Lauryn Hill to Missy, Lil Kim, Eve, etc. All of these female rappers reached their peak during around the same time yet they all STILL managed to sell double, if not triple the amount of that the biggest POP girls today can sell, but now it seems like no one is here for female rap anymore, and I'm not talking about just Iggy or Nicki. If you look at the sales of these female rappers who released an album recently or a few years back (I didn't know half of them even released an album recently) you would notice that their sales are like 1/50 if not more of what is used to be in the 90's and if anyone of them decided to make a comeback right now, they would probably fail. It's been only like 10 years, not 100, where did all these fans go? What happened to female rap? :S
We can't buy what's barely there. Granted today we do have a handful of female rappers coming up but a few years ago no one was really putting out anything.
they all just stopped releasing and people moved on.
missy and foxy had health reasons for not releasing music, i think kim had label troubles after the naked truth, same with eve i think. trina released a album in 2010 which did good for a independent release.
