Well in late 2008, Paramore released Decode the soundtrack to the Twilight movie which became a phenomenon which helped Paramore create hype for their next album.
Then Airplanes which became a huge hit helped gain attraction to Paramore through Hayley and The Only Exception take off in 2010.
Then Paramore released Monster for the Transformers soundtrack in 2011, coming for that 2010 hype it opened good but ultimately flopped and could not reach Decode levels and with the Farror Brothers leaving it could have been the end of Paramore in a way.
Then in 2013 they released Now which really underperformed or a lead single and again could have been a sign that Paramore could be over, but with their album debuting at #1 mmmmmm it made a statement that Paramore was not over. Because of the members leaving the band that created a lot of hype because people were intrigued to know if their sound would change or not, again the album was just released and it went #1 and with the album out people could finally hear their sound, with lots of sites saying "Paramore had a new sound", "Paramore is their best album" I guess radio was also intrigued about this "said new sound" and since they released Still Into You a really different song than what "normal Paramore sounds like" it kept this hype, the song had good reception and because of it radio slowly started playing it then Paramore started their biggest tour yet and everyday they did a few radio interviews which helped Still Into You gain more radio support and it ultimately became that awareness song that "Paramore was back with a new sound"
Then Stay The Night by Zedd ft. Hayley W. was released, which was coming from the huge radio hit Clarity so radios would obviously play the follow up single to Clarity, but the hype from Clarity and from "who's this new DJ Zedd" would only take it so far with radio, add that plus all this hype Paramore and their new sound is getting and the fact that Hayley is already a known artist which added star power to the song and it was also really radio friendly and was also kinda the follow up to Still Into You which radio was loving, all those things combined made Stay The Night a hit.
Now Still Into You and Stay The Night didn't necessarily made radio/people want more Paramore, but they did left them wondering what else they have?
With the release of Ain't It Fun being postponed since July till February a lot of the fans were really excited about getting the video for it, and with the video being "attention seeking" with quickly gained attention and made its job which made it take off. I wouldn't call the song radio friendly, its more of a good time song and when people hear it for the first time it wow them and its something fresh something unique that radios are not playing right now which made it standout.

Now with Fall Out Boy the story is shorter, they underperformed in 2008 after two successful eras. After that they went in a hiatus which could had kill their career but it didn't cause they still had a good fanbase.
In that break Patrick tried to go solo but failed to do so.
Now in 2013 Fall Out Boy pulled a "Beyonce" before Beyonce pulled a Beyonce. They announced a single/album out of nowhere with no one expecting it which created a lot of buzz and hype for them, it kinda was like a legend coming back, which made MSKWYDITD a success with help of promo. Since FOB was already known to radio it was like a surprise comeback and with all these new fans wondering who they are and stuff, and with the help of their fan base they got a #1 album, riding of all that hype they had a successful tour.
I almost forgot that they released a music video for all of the songs on their album which also got a lot of buzz, again they pulled a Beyonce before Beyonce pulled a Beyonce so basically Beyonce pulled a Fall Out Boy.

And now FOB and PRM are touring together the end.

A lot of people thought that it was all a fad, and that bands like Paramore and FOB would eventually vanish. Many Paramore stans would say that Paramore managed to stay afloat because their songs have become more poppy. However, I don't see what's so "poppy" about Paramore's music over the past year.

This new album is Old Rock influenced and lots of songs are New Wave, Synth/Electronic Rock, and in Ain't It Fun's case its Funk and all of those genres I named are still Rock but people see them as Pop because well Hayley is a woman and Rock music is seemed as a Man's genre. And this new album has less Punk songs like in their previous albums
