Which is worth more? Having a #1 album or a top 10 single?
A #1 album can be an easy feat for those with strong first-week sale and that can take a lot away from its feat.
However, a top 10 single may be a smash that is more popular than the album itself, but it is only one song for the artist to benefit from.
I feel like a #1 album is easier to get than a top 10 single, especially in the right time when there's no albums being released. Singles are released more frequently and are harder to break top 10, especially non lead singles
