It does matter. And it's not for the reason that it's gross or anything like that. If you're 18 years old and start dating a 29 year old, the relationship has a strong possibility of falling apart simply because they're in different stages of their lives. The 18 year old may be in college working towards a bachelor's degree. While the 29 year old may be in his dream career, ready to settle down and have children. The difference in what each individual wants will end the relationship just because they want different things in life at the moment, and those things come with their ages.
