Brazil hosting the world cup despite poverty, how do u feel?
Suddenly, everyone is aware of the problems there so how do you feel about it, should Brazil have hosted the world cup or not?
IMO, hosting it will bring more tourism = more money = less poverty.
But my main problem is that every country has poverty and each season someone will start surfacing the immorality pictures about the country hosting the games.
Like I already know EXACTLY what will make it's way on the web when Qatar hosts..
Do you think that people should think about it more and see how this will help or do you think that Brazil shouldn't have hosted?
LMAO NOT
we have been saying this for years
edit: "hosting it will bring more tourism = more money = less poverty"
not here, that's what's going to actually happen
hosting it = more turism = more money for local business = more money for the government = high bills to pay we can't pay because all the money was stolen by them
Brazil will be worse off after the games than they were before, from my understanding. It's a temporary solution that will give local businesses tourism for a short amount of time. Taxes, paid for by the Brazilian people, were used to create the games, therefore they're at a loss. Most of the money that is generated from the games is then given to the government and FIFA. If the people of Brazil don't receive better education and medical care, like they could have if the money used to create the games was used for other needs, then it's not an investment that benefits the country's people, it benefits the government.
Even in circumstances from years to come when the facilities are used again, it's all paid for by taxes, and except a small minority of local businesses, few Brazilian people benefit from it. Their education/medical funds are cut, again and again..
Most of the money invested in the world cup comes from the private sector (banks, large entrepises, etc.), and the majority of this investment goes to infrastructure and urban mobility of the country, which benefites all the population.

I think the World Cup will definitely benefit the country thanks to tourism, etc. Now the Olympics will be another case, they caused economical unstability in Greece
