Personally I liked it, it wasn't the best season by any means but it had it's great moments and though it was a bit repetitive at times, it kept me entertained and was a breath of fresh air
I liked it, the problem was just that it wasn't very dark. But after a season like Asylum I don't blame them for trying to do something more light-hearted.

Asylum > Coven > Murder House
Excatly people think Coven is like that horrid show Witches of East End which is by far worse.
It was nice to see a Witchcraft based show again. I havent seen that kind of show since Charmed ended
If I have to compare it to the other seasons, I'll DRAG. The other seasons are far superior, but if it's just about Coven i'll praise it because the season was actually good, just kind of dissapointing if you compare it to the other seasons
As others have said, it really wasn't hated when it was airing, I think loads of people found the finale disappointing and then after it ended that's when suddenly everyone seemed to jump on the hate bandwaggon. Which is strange cause I remember it being hugely popular when it aired.
Anyway I agree with what everyone else said, it was too comical and light in comparison to the older seasons, but I think that's the main issue, the comparison element.
If it was a brand new show and that had been the debut season I reckon it wouldn't of received as much hate. It's just the fact that compared to S1&2 it's really different in terms of the true horror element.
It wasn't scary or horror at all, there were dozens of plot holes, the character development was lacklustre, the ending was predictable and anticlimactic, it focused far too much on comedy, the plot wasn't particularly solid. It tried too hard to pander to a female/gay audience and lost the original horror, dark aspects that made the first two seasons great.
The first 2 season were flawless, i felt like coven was good but it was way too camp even for me, and it was really boring at times, i found myself fast forwarding some episodes, also the way they killed off someone and bought them back later was quite annoying.
It's really good but lbr Asylum was more true to the title of the series.
