Leona Lewis recently announced she'd signed a new worldwide recording deal with Universal's Island Records and as a result, was leaving Simon Cowell's record label Syco after 7 years.
She revealed in an interview recently that she was offered a new deal but instead but declined the offer. Later on she clarified she announced the news she was leaving Simon via a Text Message.
Quote:
LEONA has revealed she dumped her “disappointed” record label boss Simon Cowell by text because she was too scared to call him.
The 2006 X Factor winner sent her mentor a message after leaving Sony because she didn’t want him to try to talk her out of it.
“I’m not going to say exactly what Simon said but he was definitely a little disappointed I chose to leave. It was too late for him to persuade me though. I had already made up my mind.”
Thankfully King Cowell has forgiven LeLe already though.
She added: “Simon is genuinely supportive and will always be instrumental in my career. I will still ask his advice.
“He told me the reason X Factor went to the US was because it had produced an international artist. I’m proud of coming from that show and Simon and I will always have a special bond.”
