A rep for Pharrell told SPIN that neither Pharrell nor the directing team behind the "Happy" video had seen Girl Walk // All Day. In an emailed statement to SPIN, Girl Talk's Greg Gillis (who wasn't directly involved with Girl Walk // All Day) hedged on calling Pharrell's video a copycat. "Yeah, there's definitely some similarities," he said. "It could be a coincidence or maybe somebody in Pharrell's camp was influenced by the video. Do I think the Pharrell video used those elements in a transformative nature and created something new out of it? Yes."
he really is starting to loose his credibility as an artist first blurred line, then the feminist comment, then the spiritual native american tribe head piece and now this... mess
It's been widely established within the music industry that Pharrell Williams
is reductive and derivative. He has no originality as an artist. What else is new?
That end bit with the guys asking why you're dancing and she says "Because I'm Happy"...It can't be a coincidence. The video is too similar. Did he he even write the lyrics if he's claiming to never watched it cause daym.
