I was just wondering why things associated with BET, especially their awards are not taken seriously on here (and other places TBH) but MTV is. MTV has shows chronicling the lives of irresponsible teens with babies, low budget shows about girls pretending to be lesbians, had the Jersey Shore and a series about people faking their relationships on the internet. Bet has shows starring classy icons like Gabrielle Union and Brandy instead of people like Snooki and Jwow.
Also, usually the highlight of the BET awards will be an amazing, choreographed performance with great vocals from someone like Beyonce not an unchoreographed lazy attention seeking mess (not talking about anyone in specific, it's happenS many times at MTV)
So why is BET ratchet or seen as MORE ratchet than MTV?
MTV is ratchet, BET is just a non-factor. Nothing to do with race, it just never really reached the level of MTV and maintained it (same could be said for VH1).

why do I get a sense that someone is racially mad/ feeling oppressed/angst/god know what.. with the creation of this. And no not just because its "BET" mentioned.. but lets be real now.
BET caters towards the black community more than appealing to everyone. Plus the MTV VMA's will always be an iconic award show since there is so much history and unforgettable moments in pop culture.
BET is ratchet and so is MTV. But BET is low budget ratchet and seem to be crowded with flops whereas MTV is the opposite. That has a lot to do with the image.
I knew this would be reported, I'm black though and y'all are too sensitive.
