The mayor of the Houston, Annise D. Parker, announced today that June 10 will hereafter be known as "Drake Day" in the city of Houston. According to the official statement that Drake posted on Instagram, "Drake Day" is a holiday that “commends and appreciates Drake for dedicating his time to Houston through his passion and enthusiasm for music and our city.”
There have been a number of films that saw the comparative success that Titanic did in their time with equally memorable/romantic scores and yet they never sold on the basis of instrumental tracks alone in lieu of hit songs. Film soundtracks were even the first kind of album to sell en masse WW, and yet all the soundtracks that rank among the best-sellers of all time sold because of the SONGS included on them.
Why did anyone buy a whole album back then if they were just interested in the lead single and oblivious to any of the other tracks on the album? It was the 90s. Why pay $5 for one track when you can get that track and a whole bunch of others you might like for $12. And there was a limited number of copies issued for the single in the US, anyway, similar to the case with Britney early on.
I never said anything about who was technically listed where in the credits, I said the album sold primarily because of Celine's song. Given the fact that no other instrumental soundtrack has ever put up such numbers (or anything close), I'd say that's a reasonable inference.
yes, songs, not one song. it isn't even featured in the movie. This is all speculation on your end anyway. At the end of the day, it isn't right to count it in her sales other than the song's sales alone!
