This excuse got old, real fast. There may be some people who stan for success on ATRL, but others really do care about the music.

For me I liked ARTPOP when it was first released because it was new. It got old very quickly for me, and there are only about four tracks that I could say that I really like. I haven't listened to the album through since 2013. This isn't because it flopped. It's because it's not a very good album, for my standards. There are lots of generic production that isn't pleasant to listen to, lots of bad lyricism and overall not much to praise about it. Applause, Do What U Want, G.U.Y. and Gypsy are the album standouts. I love those songs even though they flopped too. So for me it's got nothing to do with success. Her team did the best they could and released some of the best songs from a bad album, and it still wasn't enough to make it a hit.

I've only listened to the singles, but I love all of them. DWUW (original) is my fav Lady Gaga song ever

No I don't think so. This album actually made me a stan. I remember reading all the crap wondering: "WOWWW this album must be really bad if they are trashing it this hard".
But then I listened and I was pleasantly surprised. I think ARTPOP shows off her vocals more then her previous work.

It's not. I shouldn't even be posting in this thread because I didn't even listen to the whole album nor do I know about Lady Gaga's discography but... Coming from a person who despises most pop artists, I thought some of the songs were good actually

Now don't get me wrong, I didn't listen to it because I wanted or because I really like her, a friend of mine wanted me to give it a listen and so I did. I got through like 2/3 of the album and ended up getting Swine and Do What You Want. I didn't think it was as cringeworthy as some stuff on the radio, at least

No. I liked it for like 2 weeks but it got old really fast. It was a fun pop album to listen to imo

Lyrics are awful.
Gaga's vocals are awful.

It's a good album after all.

Eh. It got slightly better over time but it's still not good enough for me to consider buying. 4.5/10 -ish now.

So people think it's a bad album because people didn't buy it rather than people not buying it because they think it is a bad album? Logical.

I hate this forum and it's hipster-esque attitude to music. If something by a new artist is successful you have to hate it or else you're jumping on the success bandwagon, if something flops you have to love it or else you're just stanning for the charts. Mess. Stop. It's not a coincidence artists losing fans and sales coincide with a widely considered bad album.
