Talking about Pop stars only, because if you are an youtuber it obviously matters a lot
So I just noticed that artists with 10M + subscribers have less views on their promo singles audios, than artists with less than 5M subscribers. Moreover most of the times views are closely linked to radio airplay (and how big the song is) unless you are 1D or Shakira.. (and of course some exceptions like for example Gaga's Judas and Riri's Man Down). But what's the point in having 12M subscribers when if your song is a hit it will have many views and if not it will have less than 100M views... while your promo singles have less views than other pop stars promo singles with twice less the subscribers (not mentioning names because it's not about that).
I can't get it ... Why is someone with 4M subscrbs having more views on a promo single than someone with 12M subscrbrs ?
It's all about whether a song is a huge hit or not... unless you have a huge fanbase like Gaga/1D/JB etc.
Does these subscribers matter in the end ? Yes the artists are earning money from these accounts but I guarantee that they'll be earning just as much if they shut their VEVO accounts ...
In the end it all comes down to whether you have a huge fanbase or no (Example Lady Gaga's G.U.Y. had 6.8M views in its first 24h more than the latest videos of Katy, 1D and even Miley) and then it failed to reach top 40 in the biggest markets and now it's stalled at 50M
And whether your song is a huge it or not
Video like Dark Horse having 400M (because the song is huge all over the world) while Unconditionally - Katy's better video has only 100M views (tho it had a lot of airplay 80M Ai if I remember correctly)..
Does having many subscribers matters ?
