The writer is trivializing rape by making the movie about rape culture with statements like "He rapes her of her ability to fly", that's more troublesome. Looking at the comments you can see why.

It could be... obviously they wouldn't say she got raped on the movie, but if you replace the wings being clipped with being raped the entire story still makes sense.
