So even though Apple have only released 8 iOS phones, yet there have been millions of Android phones, I'd say Apple is winning by a long shot.

Apple also had a year and a half headstart to deal with Android but they failed. They tried to branch out with the iPhone 5C but it was a major flop.
That's before we talk about how Google is still profiting from iOS devices, thanks to its superior Maps application and other Android services it has ported to iOS.
All your point proves is that Apple haven't learned from their mistakes in the PC market. The exact same thing happened in that market. Android = Windows.
