I just got back from seeing it. Like the book, I wasn't in love with it but I thought it was solid. Shailene's proving to be a very solid actress, good for her. I would've never guessed given that Secret Life show.
I thoroughly enjoyed the movie and thought Shailene and Ansel really captured the essence of both Hazel and Augustus. There were times where I wish they kept it like the book and added more scenes from the book,
especially the timeline of Augustus' fairly quick health decline
.
I was expecting to like this but what a waste of time.
Manipulative, badly written tearjerker.
Shailene Woodley absolutely brings it, what a lovely performance that is not worthy of this movie. Poor Laura Dern does her best in the mother role with some help from the True Blood guy. Ansel Elgort is atrocious. Pixie dream guy? GTFO. He reminded of a poor man's 80's Tom Cruise. Not worthy the hype but I'm still glad a female fronted movie can make this kind of noise in the box office.
I just got back from watching this on theaters. I actually liked it, I thought the movie wouldn't compare to the book, but I was trying to hold back tears. :')
The movie itself was good but holy CRAP was the audience annoying. 14 year old girls going "awwwee" or laughing every 20 seconds. On top of that, the loud crying at the end.

I think I'd like the movie better watching it at home.
Not here for teen girls pretending to cry and having a reaction everytime that dude said some stupid line.
I want to watch this but I don't want to cry in the front of other people so I am just going to wait until it comes out on DVD and watch it alone because I'm an ugly crier.
