Here in Brazil you have to be careful where you walk in. The cesspools are built under the houses' pavement. And some people save money by building non secure cesspools, so it's really common for people to be walking on the sidewalk and suddenly fall out on a cesspool and die.
Edit: Don't get Brazil wrong. This only happens in the poorest locations.
