Miley's Bangerz era seems to have come to a complete stand still when this single failed to truly take off (Whether it be from lack of promo or a career ending-ly boring video etc). Some have pointed to this single relatively under performing for being the reason why Miley's star power seems to have faded in the new year.

Yes.

The most boring song Miley EVER recorded, it frustrates me so much it was both single and the album openner.

She should have put flawless 'Last Goodbye' on the album instead

SMS should've been released.

Her canceling the era was a mistake tbh. There are so many more songs that could smash as singles.

When the album first leaked, I LITERALLY fell asleep listening to "Adore You". I didn't wake up until "SMS (Bangerz)". Welp.

Adore You was a fine choice. It's a great song no matter what.

The problem is that she gave up after it didn't go Top 10. If she's released #GETITRIGHT with a good video I think the era would still be going strong.

No it was alright and it didn't do too bad imo. The fact that no singles came after it was the real mistake.

Adore You was a very boring song, IMO. Even though I despise WCS, at least it's a fun song. It's lead single material. Adore You isn't single material at all.

Here's the thing: "Wrecking Ball" had that it factor. It was dynamic, it had multiple hooks, it served as a somewhat personal take of the IRL drama between Miley x Liam. It coupled with the video made for a voyeuristic campaign that both showed the version of Miley she wanted us to see (confident, powerful, naked) and also the Miley that she tries to hide throughout the record. The vulnerable, hurt Miley. "Adore You" has none of those things. It's a mediocre slow as honey ballad with a equally uneventful Paranormal Activity ass video.

The only mistake was releasing it after Wrecking Ball.

Everything about the Adore You era was terribly done. Including the song itself. Big mistake !
