Going through this thread it's clear that some of you haven't even picked up a Bible your entire life
The Bible isn't a book written about perfect people who follow the Ten Commandments to a T, it's about SINNERS. Just because there may be a gay couple or incest or adultery in the Bible doesn't mean anything. Some of y'all should have paid more attention in R.E.

I'm Christian and this really doesn't mean anything for reasons that have already been stated...
The dumbest thing about Christians hating the gays is that themselves probably don't follow half of the, ngl, ridiculous things the Bible asks. I mean, take Leviticus alone and you're not allowed to carelessly make an oath, leave your hair unkempt, go to church within 33 or 66 days of giving birth to a boy or girl, respectively, trimming your beard, get tattoos, or work on the Sabbath.
And that's just a START.

Sorry, but this is wrong. The Old Testament of the Bible was translated from Hebrew to English, and in Hebrew there are multiple words used for "love." English only has one, and so, when translated, it sounds like a sexual relationship took place. In reality, the word used in Hebrew was 'âhab, which was used in other places to describe non-sexual love.

Well "Virgin Mary" wasn't really virgin. In aramaic (the original language the bible was written) virgin could mean "young woman" too and nobody cared so...

Exactly. Many "Christians" simply hate on gay people simply because that's the thing called in the Bible with the most attention. The Bible calls out divorce much more often and harshly than homosexuality. And Levitican laws are absolutely nuts. One of them being that if a woman's husband were to die without having a son in his lifetime, then she must have sex with all of his brothers (starting with the oldest) until she leaves her late husband an heir to his name. There's a reason why Jesus Christ in the Bible came to replace those laws: love thy neighbor as yourself.

Who even cares what that fictional book consists of one way or the other?

Whether you believe in the Bible or not, the Bible shouldn't be completely ignored simply because too many people base politics on it when religion and government should be separate. If you want to practice whatever religion, go ahead. But, passing legislation to deny rights to a demographic (that would actually economically benefit the country) because it's in a book is a completely illegitimate argument.

Gay people are obviously God's ultimate test of love and acceptance within a religious nature. I feel homosexuals were strictly put on this earth as a testament to God's constant reminder that He made us all unique individuals and we all must love one another.

Almah is a Hebrew word for maiden which means an unmarried girl especially a virgin. Bellulah is the Hebrew word for virgin. But Isaiah wrote of Mary as "almah" instead of "bellulah" to demonstrate her as being both a young girl and a virgin.

Just because there is homosexuality in the bible doesn't mean that we should all allow ourselves to be defined by the bible now. If you're going to argue that homosexuality's presence in the bible is what makes it moral or normal, then you can't just pick and choose bits of the bible to quote and ignore the rest. Is that not what most of us criticize others for doing?

Yeah, this doesn't mean anything. Just seems to me that David and Jon were very close friends.
The Bible is worded very weirdly, it is over 2000 years old after all. These two straight men have a very close bond, even closer than of their wives which is what I've gathered from it.

Plus, even if the relationship described is of a homosexual nature (it's not), it is in no way endorsing it
You're all still going to hell, basically.

Bible verse explicitly stating that homosexuality sends you to hell? The only verse referencing a punishment simply refers to Earthly death and it is in the book of Leviticus which has little to no credibility as being something to take seriously in context of the rest of the Bible (considering that the Bible denounces old laws, such as Levitican laws, thrice).
