Why do you say Moncton, Canada? It's Moncton, New Brunswick.
Would you every say Dallas, United States? Kentwood, United States?
It's the same elsewhere. People say Sydney, Australia not Sydney, NSW. It's like the whole world is expected to know every state, yet Americans can't be bothered to learn about other countries. Typical and arrogant.

I think this should be the least of your worries

Canadians have more firearms per capita than the US. Woops.

Here's a video of one of the RCMP officers getting shot. I'm putting a NSFW tag on it even though you can't really see what's happened. It's still quite chilling.
He's still on the loose.

How rude and condescending. Let me just help you hone that astute perception of yours since you seem angry about what just happened.
First off, there's no grammatical rule that dictates you must do city, province. OP is not addressing a letter to the postal office, they're posting on a forum. We don't because no one gives a ****. The goal is to give you a decent idea of the geographic location we're talking about. Shall we be even more precise and throw in towns/regions/counties/districts?
Second off, your logic implies that everyone knows the state/province of every city. Only residents are socially obligated to know their country's detailed geography. Since American media broadcasts around the world more commonly than other country's media, it's not surprising that you would begin to remember some of their city's states. I don't know Australian provinces or territories, what makes Australia so special? Am I going to sit around all day and try to remember the distinct territories of the ~200 countries in the world? Just be happy someone can place your country on a map.
Third.... do you say Rome, Rome? Lisbon, Estremadura? Paris, Ile de France? Toulouse, Languedoc? Are their residents bitching? No. If they had only put Moncton, New Brunswick many people wouldn't know where on Earth that was. People generally know where Canada is. Ideally OP would have Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada but it really doesn't distract from the message... especially since there's only ONE Moncton in Canada. The people affected certainly know where Moncton is and everyone else that's curious can just google it.

I can see if this was a Canada specific forum but it ain't soo....
Not to mention it isn't like Moncton, nor New Brunswick, are big places in Canada. Moncton has 64,000 residents and almost zero #impact in an international scale. It isn't like saying "Toronto, Ontario" or "Vancouver, British Columbia". Ain't nobody know where "Moncton, New Brunswick" is.

Oh, this is really picking up beyond local news.
I only live a couple hours away. First time I've ever witnessed international news give a damn about my province and it has to be about this.
Horrible.

No (I'm pretty sure assault rifles, automatic weapons or anything for "self defence" is banned though), we have more guns per capita than America but then again they're mostly hunting rifles. But we do have universal background checks and strict regulation.
