I don't think of myself as a homophobe. I'm not scared of gay people and I don't hate them either. I love everyone!

You're not a homophobe. You're a heterosupremacist.

If I had a choice, I wouldn't have cried almost every night for a year or have gone through my depression for being gay. I wouldn't have faced bullying or being pushed aside by everyone I knew. I wouldn't have suffered or kissed a man in my life and I would have lived a "normal" life like you do.
But I'm gay. My life turned out like that, I didn't chose anything.
It's great that you're not scared of hate gay people, but PLEASE don't ever say it's a choice, because you're fooling yourself.

But omg the heated discussion with Christians who don't believe homosexuality is a sin and the ones that do.
I attended a meeting once with my aunt and it got ugly
I think as long as you're not pushing your so called religious right in the faces of those who don't follow your path we can be ok. I mean the whole don't hate the sinner but hate the sin motto sounds so ironic in the worst way.
It doesn't make much sense to me at all.

Hmm.
I'm a Christian and I'm pretty sure God does not approve of any kind of sex outside of vaginal intercourse between a married heterosexual couple.
Is it my religious belief that gay sex is sinful? Yes. But it is not my job to govern someone else's way of life or sexual habits. I don't judge anyone, because in my theology, we are all equally deserving of judgement.
Do I think sexual orientation is a choice? No. Everyone is born with a sinful nature. We all have sinful urges. One makes a choice, however, to act on or not act on those urges. But again, if you are not Christian and Christianity's rules concerning sex don't matter to you, it's none of my business and I don't judge you.

Why does god supposedly care so much about what kind of sex people have in private? Kind of creepy if you ask me...

What I see a lot in my own country, The Netherlands, and we are known as the most tolerant country of the world, is that many people 'are OK' with it, but AS LONG AS ''they'' don't fall in love with me, or AS LONG AS ''they'' don't touch me. So there are also people who agree with it but actually are still homophobic in some way.
In my opinion, nobody should hide their love, wo(man)to (wo)man. Some people might not like to see homosexual couples kissing or walking on the streets together, but there are more things people don't like.

I don't get why some people get upset, when other disagree with homosexuality. However, I don't care. Some of my own family members don't agree with me being gay. But they still accept me & treat me no different from anyone else, and that's fine.
I feel like as long as they're aren't disrespectful about it, then there should be no issue.

In Christian theology, God created all humans and is present in all aspects of everyone's life. In our theology, God has rules and we're supposed to follow them. Simple as that.

I don't respect homophobes, just like I don't respect sexists and racists
I'm not saying you don't have the ~freedom of speech~ to be a homophobe, sexist, or racist. I'm just going to use my ~freedom of speech~ to tell you to mind your own business and stop trying to ruin other people's lives because of something about themselves they can't control.

Okay, but why apply and push those rules on people who don't read or follow your magical book of fairytales?

I'm an athiest and agree with you, but this point can be made without belittling people of faith.

Explain what I'm belittling? The Bible is a book of fictional stories that guides people on how to live their lives. Just like Deepak Chopra or Kabbalah. Nothing wrong with that - but I don't hear Kabbalah followers telling people they don't agree with their lives or trying to push legislation based on their beliefs.

If you know that much about the Bible, surely you know how important it is to the people that follow it.
I agree with you in the fact that it is a mythology, but you can't deny it is one of the most influential mythologies in the modern world and that a lot of people sincerely believe in it.
Christians who try to push their rules on society at large are trash, but that's still not a reason to demonize all Christians.
