Gay pride has nothing to do with equality. Gay pride festivals are about coming together and being yourself for one day out of the year. Just because pride festivals in NYC and LA have people running round naked, doesn't mean that's how all pride festivals are. There are dozens of pride festivals that aren't like that at all. A lot of them are just gatherings for queer people and their families to come and show their support for one another. It's a time to ignore the ignorance and hatred for a couple of hours and surround yourself with people you love and care about. Stop being so ****ing ignorant about a very important aspect of queer culture because of your own ignorant generalizations.
The amount of self loathing queer men who think they're somehow better because they don't support pride parades is hilariously depressing. Your own insecurities keeping you from understanding what it's all about because you rather shame people for having fun than take the time to think about why it's happening. For a lot men and women, being "naked" and flamboyant on pride day is like, the one time out of the entire year they are able to do that without being shamed or made fun of.
I pray for queer people like you guys. You are the reason our community is struggling. You are feeding into the very anti-queer, misogynistic rhetoric that keeps your own community from being able to progress.
