Tolerance is a good start.... if people tolerate it, it will become more normal and people will understand it better.. it's a step on the path to acceptance, of course we should want that

I still remember the day when ATRL was bashing the asexuals like there's no way they exist.

I understand that, but some families force their children ect. to agree with their religion. I'm not trying to attack you like the others I'm just wondering

I guess what I don't understand is that religion is a man-made concept. It's literally a lifestyle choice. Yet, somehow, people try to push the idea of "we don't accept x, y, z because it's unnatural", over things that are more natural than religion.
I don't get it.

I just don't understand how walking down the street at gay pride in your underwear is shouting we want equal rights.. there's other ways to do it more professional .. I'm gay and all my friends and family are cool with it because I don't make every single topic based on my sexuality as well as pushing it in people's faces.

I don't think of myself as a homophobe. I'm not scared of gay people and I don't hate them either. I love everyone!

It is not a choice. Do you honestly believe if we could choose our sexuality that people would make the choice to have a sexuality that causes them to be bullied, discriminated against, seen as different? Do you honestly believe that people choose to be bullied into suicide, disowned by families, beaten and even killed? Do you honestly believe that many people would choose to be something that could cause them to hate themselves? It most certainly is not a choice. If it were, everything would be simpler for a lot of people. Some people wish it was a choice.

To be honest, I do understand what Cherry is trying to say.
Being a homosexual is not a choice. Acting on it is a choice though. You can be gay, but you just can't have sex and do that. That's why he is talking about life choices. You CHOOSE to act on it and perform homosexual acts.
I don't agree with what he is saying, but I do understand it.

Well, it's religious people who keep queer people from living full lives. It's religion that is the cause for the banning of gay marriage and often the murder of queer individuals. Every homophobic law on the book all around the world has something to do with some type of religion. Queer people have the right to dislike religious people and religion in general because they are the reason they cannot live without fear. On the contrary, there is no reason for religious people to dislike queer people. The Old Testament is called "old" for a reason. Jesus rebuked the sin of homosexuality in the New Testament when he died on the cross. He effectively "took back" what was said in Levetticus (sic?), meaning those who use that to justify their ill feelings towards queer people are literally ignoring their religion and just looking for a reason to be hateful.
There is no lack of self awareness when it comes to any kind of minority disliking someone who feeds into what oppresses them.

tbh after all the experiences I've had, if I was given the choice today, I'd choose to remain gay... Also, if I was 16 and had the knowledge and experiences I have had till today, I'd still choose to be gay

Well, not exactly. It's not just allowing the thoughts to stay in my head and just not having sex. The goal is for those thoughts to go away by fighting my personal spiritual battles by strengthening my relationship with Jesus.

I agree. But the kind of tolerance that Cherry preaches is still inherently homophobic down the line.

I didn't compare you to pedophiles but pedophilia is as normal as is homo and heterosexuality. Let's not.

As someone who struggles with homosexual temptations and doesn't want to, I can tell you this. I didn't choose to think homosexual thoughts or be attracted to men. I believe that Jesus can change you if you want to change, and that's where I'm putting my faith. I do believe that there is a way out.
