I actually do struggle with homosexual temptations but I believe that I have been renewed in Jesus Christ and that there is freedom to be found from WHAT I SEE AS a sin that I've been enslaved to for years. I'm not perfect but I am making progress.
But doesn't god forgive you for all your sins? So why would you change?
Homosexuality violates my religious views so I actually do not agree with it. It's a life choice that I don't partake in and would rather others not, but I can only live my own life.
I don't think of myself as a homophobe. I'm not scared of gay people and I don't hate them either. I love everyone!
I guess it's like the saying 'hate the sin not the sinner.' Never mind that this sin doesn't affect anyone, on the contrary suppressing homosexuality damages the person a lot, his self-esteem and quality of life would be miserable if he denied who he is. That is one of my main problems with Christianity and other religions, how is something natural that does not damage anyone a sin? Why are you saying that something is bad when it doesn't do something bad?

My religion doesn't stop people from doing what they want to do. My religion affects MY OWN life.
And that is good, but some people use their religion to justify bad things, to hurt others psychologically, to justify hate. I am glad you don't use it for that.

Because as I've been born again in Jesus, I believe that I am to follow Him and His commands and teachings, not let Him follow me wherever I choose to go. So as a Christian, my goal is to become more Christlike and abandon things in my life that are not Christlike.

Someone at the meeting asked this very question and they literally had no answer to that.
