I'm not sure how an album selling for longer periods of time means it is based on quality of music though. If what sells it is the quality of music, why did it not sell that way from the start? Good albums get talked about. They get hype, they sell. I think it's obvious that both ways of selling involve hype.

21 is still selling even though Adele did minimal promo back in 2011. The Truth About Love was selling months after release, AM by Arctic Monkeys is still in the top 10 in the UK, the last promo spot they did was the Brits. Born To Die by Lana Del Rey is still charting, + by Ed Sheeran is still in the top 40, etc etc etc
I could go on all day, those are all great albums still selling months, even years after release.
