Maybe I'm not getting the full picture here but that sounds completely appropriate for the lesson they were learning? You can't teach about history and skip over parts because it's not so great.

Exactly! Textbooks in school have shown examples of war, persecution, and in some extreme cases slavery. So why would this get the man fired when there's worse in textbooks.

And you wonder why these white kids (and adults) say the n-word all the time... because everyone is so busy being a social justice warrior to actually teach the history of why these words or actions are offensive in school. And that's why you end up with Justin Bieber, Zayn, or Louis casually repeating n-words and why you have Colton Haynes and Julianne Hough dressing up in blackface, because they literally are oblivious and don't know any better.
