I was beginning to wonder when they were actually going to do it, they announce this ages ago
I'm alright with this to be honest, it will improve the longevity that the UK charts lacks and will be a much-needed shake-up.
I kind of like the variety that our country has with it's hits but at least this way the charts will be more accurate. Too many tracks debut at #1 and then fall off the face of the wart completely.
But I hope this doesn't mean that our charts will essentially become the US charts.
This is a mess, UK singles are very debut oriented and are nothing like the US where a song climbs gradually and gradually. I can't see this working as effectively at all
They're only debut oriented because of the 6 weeks between Radio Premier and Digital Release though, a left over from the days where Piracy and Steaming didn't exist. This change will make longevity a much more prominent feature in the UK charts, and will force record labels to do On Air/On Sale here like it is in every other country.

For example Cheryl (Cole) her new single. It's out now on radio but not on sale. They need to go with on air / on sale cuz it is taking ages and I can imagine everyone just pre-ordering it for the name but it is such a waste.
Hmmmm, I don't know about this. Over here you peak in the debut week 9 times out of 10 & start falling afterwards. Adding streaming could mean the charts won't move much week after week.
This is going to end up making the charts as boring as the US ones where you only get the big established artists getting hits that sit there for months. What I love about the charts here is that smaller artists and artists from different genres can manage to get some recognition. Sigh.

Same.
Not really feeling this change but since it's happening anyway, I hope they don't make it TOO big a factor.
