I was watching the latest Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, and LORDE came out as the last singer for the Nirvana tribute. (If you don't know why singers were honoring Nirvana, and not the original lineup - please EDUCATE YOURSELF.) I never would have guessed that a seventeen year old would have tackled 'All Apologies,' but everyone on that stage looked at her with such RESPECT and PRIDE.

We already know that she's far more respected than the rest of the 90s kids. (Few actually respect Miley [sadly!] and ever fewer adults know who Demi/Ariana/Selena are.) But has she toppled some of your slightly older faves as well?

Yes, she is. I would say other than Beyoncé, Adele, and maybe 2 others, she's the most respected pop girl out right now.

Because she's truly talented and brings something new to the table rather than simply following already existing pop stars' algorithms.

Every one of my faves is highly respected and critically acclaimed at their field, but yes Lorde can be huge if she can sustain a certain amount of success over time.

She's built up huge acclaim for herself with her album, it's really impressive. She could end up being a huge icon/legend if she plays her cards right.

We laugh at the "not another teen hottie" thing but it's true. I can't think of another example where a teenager broke through in a major way as a music star (topping the charts, covering Rolling Stone) and it wasn't based on how hot they were. This makes her special.

Probably but that's how she's marketed, to be cool and the anti-popstar who's so talented (when in reality she's no more talented than most of the people you named) so I would hope so!
