Honestly the connotation for the N word has changed. Some people say the n word replacing the -er with an -a and they are using it in a way that is not meant to be racist. On the other hand some people use it in the negative connotation. Also some people say it in the regular way and could mean either ways. I don't use it by the way just to put that out there

I've never been bothered by people (caucasians) saying it. My brother lets his white friends say it

And when people hear that POC let their white friends say it around them they always accuse them of being self hating or whatever when that's not even the case

im not really sure what the consensus is on mixed people using the word, but anyways i try not to use it just to be safe and not offend anyone, even though personally i care more about context of words than words themselves. words on their own are meaningless to me until theyre put into context.
