But it's a very valid question and one I don't think I can answer? Or rather, it's difficult to answer because I'm not in the shoes of a "privileged" (~new black~) straight man and the concept of feminism is natural to me, being a victim of the patriarchy as well. Of course education is the best option, but in retrospect, I suppose it can get a bit muddled when there are two sides of the same argument. I mean, we see it on ATRL any time there's a debate on race or use of the word t***** or the n-word.

Okay Hollywood, once and for all:

Feminism: The belief in the social, economic and financial equality of the genders.

Intersectional Feminism: The acknowledgement of the different intersecting forms of prejudice that effect those that the feminist manifesto seeks to help find equality.


Feminism is not the belief that those who ascribe to the female gender should hold more power than all other gender identities. That is termed a Matriarchal System.

We are currently living in a Heterosexual Patriarchal System where straight males automatically are favoured in terms of financial, social and economic standings and perceptions than all other genders and sexual identities (such as Female/Transexual with gender and Gay/Lesbian in sexuality as two simple examples that seek to simplify sexuality and gender identity by not acknowledging them as the spectrums they are and speaking of them as simple opposing binaries).

A feminist does not hate males as a sex or as a gender identity. They just seek equality in perception to them, and justly so.

A misogynist is someone who is prejudiced against females as a biological sex and a gender identity. Misogynistic thinking is the expression of those beliefs, though not necessarily that classification. Rape and sex culture is a result of misogynistic thinking institutionalised by the Patriarchal System in power and wanting to hold on to it.
