I gotta confess - the new songs don't touch me as much as BTD-songs so far. I'm not sure how excited I'm for the album. I still am but had she given us something more similar to BTD, I'd be more excited.
I am all for an artist evolving, having a new sound etc. but you can't just change your whole style from one era to another. At least not without loosing some fans. I'm sure she'll gain new fans due to the change but I'm asking myself what will be the result - more or less fans.
My guess is, if the rest of the songs follow this direction, that this era won't be as successful as BTD and that pains me.
Edit: I'm sure she'll open with much bigger ww numbers for this album. However, I doubt there'll be longevity like with the first album...and this was/is her chance to truly blow up!

Why should that pain you that she will probably lose fans?
She made that choice to change the sound because obviously the songs weren't going in the direction she wanted them to before she met Dan Auerbach. Lana is making the music she loves, monex is not an issue for her since she was rich before she broke regardless.
It always rubs me the wrong way when people say that the want more of the same from an artist. I will never understand that, tbh.
And Lana's decrease in terms of success in Europe is quite logical. She is still a big name here, but she has been away for soooo long. You need to stick around to stay in the focus of the public.
