No they, wouldn't. I'm just as educated as you are as well. Also, "feeling anxious" and being diagnosed with anxiety are not the same thing either.

If it's a condition someone is born with and can't help then it should be paid for. I didn't say everyone who doesn't get it commits suicide but it could be potentially less costly if the size of people did harm themselves because of it grew.

People here don't seem to realize a sex change is not just a cosmetic procedure, it's a matter of life or death. There is no other option for them, which is why this whole eyesight argument is a false equivalency. LASIK is a luxury, one which has many much cheaper, non-surgical alternative (glasses, contacts) that work just as well and have minimal adverse effects on quality of life.

Other methods of treating gender dysphoria (therapy) are ineffective for many and the surgery is the ONLY option, lest they wish to live the rest of their lives in a body they feel isn't actually theirs, which can lead to a number of other issues, some of which are life-threatening.
