Beyoncé is more commercially successful by far and aways, and she's becoming MJ in the sense that she's the go-to person to be "inspired by".

But Beyoncé never caused a tangible trend in the sound of her genre, and does not have a plethora of younger performers who are nearly identical to her.

Beyoncé is bigger, but Aaliyah has had more impact/influence, though not nearly as big as Beyoncé.
