I've been thinking about this today, and I really think he/the whole show is.
I STILL hear episodes of this show referenced every day, including (but certainly not limited to):
- Wumbo
- Sentence enhancers
- "Is this the Krusty Krab?" "No, this is Patrick!"
- Blankity, blankity, BLANK
- "MY LEG"
- When in doubt, pinky out
- The hash-slinging slasher
- The magic conch
- I'm ugly and I'm proud
The list is truly endless. The only thing that I think matches Spongebob is Harry Potter, but Spongebob has the advantage (at least from my experience here in the US) of being known by everyone: kids, teens, adults, parents, and grandparents alike. Like really, who HASN'T seen an episode of Spongebob? I do unfortunately know some people who still refuse to read or watch Harry Potter, though.
