i thought about this the other day
for some reason a lot of people think this generation of girls will not be looked at similarly to the last (in a good way)
but that's only because it's going on right now

They really were premature with this one. Many young artist cite Beyonce as their influence now or days. With people ending their costumes era, I would say that Gaga's influence is pretty much over now.

Thanks to Gaga and Taylor Swift pop stars are expected to play an instrument and sing live and have musical talent though.

Not at all. Gaga has had a strong influence on the youth, and its apparent. I mean obviously people will cite Beyonce as their influence because she has been around far longer then gaga, AND is praised to the heavens (not disputing) so she's an easy person to latch onto and say she was my influence.

It's not just about influence on other artists, it's about influence on people. They didn't name her the second most influential person of the decade, next to Oprah, for her "costumes"

Britney - so many Britney wannabe pop stars emerged after she hit it big. She really characterized the whole blonde, hot, bubblegum pop princess. Same with her style of music....she helped make Max Martin so big.

Gaga - Gaga shocked people with her performances and outfits, she was different from everybody else when she came out. She put such a big emphasis on big performances, over the top outfits, etc. Unlike everybody else, she wore crazy costumes on and off stage. After her, other pop stars started dressing over the top and weird, as well as trying to have ~shocking~ performances.
