Believe it or not, an artist's talent can actually influence the quality of their work. Sure some artists can sound good in the studio, but when they perform live they can butcher their work completely. Value should be given to artists who are actually good at what they do, not because they've cheated their way to success.
If an athlete won a gold medal due to steroids, they should not be praised for winning. An athlete who did not win a medal but performed to the best of his ability without cheating is much more worthy of praise.

Janet and Madonna only have a fraction of the voice that the ~vocal trinity~ have, yet their music is far superior and their voices are good enough to carry the songs while the vocal trinity's discography is mostly trash

Tell me what vocal talent was needed for Poker face. What vocal talent was needed for ARTPOP (the song). Those vocals only show up live. Madonna could do vocal training for all of the 19th and most of the 20th century but she would still never have Jessie Js vocals yet she is 100 times the RECORDING ARTIST and not only in sales but in basically everything except over singing.
I understand why some people try to downplay the importance of talent. They have to come up with reasons why it's ok to stan for artists with weak vocals (Britney, Madonna, Rihanna, Katy, Kesha, Taylor).
