Have we gotten to a place in society where we are no longer able to "take a joke" we are too concerned about the notion of offending someone or a group of people. From Miley's antics last year, to Macklemore's supposed racist performance recently, have we gotten too sensitive and soft skinned. I recently made a thread asking if rape could be perpetuated by a woman, and instead of it being discussed like it would've been on any other forum it was closed simply because members here were implying I believed rape could be perpetuated, though I never really stated so in the thread there are countless other examples on this site alone where people take something too literally, are offended and well start warning people. So as a society are we too soft-skinned today?

What things, If I wear a big nose, just for the point of being comical I might be labeled an anti-Semitic, if some one sags their pants to be humorous they might be labeled a racist for appropriating black culture, is this not true

yes some people get offended by stupid things but that doesn't mean implying something like that is acceptable. it doesn't matter if that's what you actually meant, it sounded like you did imply that and that's offensive and is bound to cause a ton of fighting, so the thread got closed.

no. some people just take a few things too seriously or interpret things differently. most of the time, it is meant to offend people though so it's probably better to not do it at all even if it's a "joke"
