It makes perfect sense, though? I assume you're complaining about food stamps because peoples' hard-earned money is being taken away through taxes, which are being put into food stamps, which you feel is a waste of tax dollars?
People who work in Congress, who get put on the government payroll (aka they're getting paid through tax dollars), aren't getting money just to get by. They get to live pretty comfortable life styles from those tax dollars. People on food stamps don't.
(Oh, and before anyone wants to bring up the stereotype that people have food stamps, yet own expensive purses/clothes/phones/etc., there are plenty of statistics that prove the stereotype to be an overblown minority.)
