NOne of y'all were there during the 80s/90s so we can only go by receipts of who was bigger then and Billboard's tea favors Impactnet. According to Billboard, Janet was also second most successful artist of the 90s, with only two albums released, while MJ was way lower.
He we more global, more album sales, and a bigger touring artist (even though MJ didn't tour in the US after the Bad Tour, because of the US media ridicule).
Janet was never bigger than MJ, but let's not act like her career isn't impressive. Her brother is/was massive, yet she was able to make a name for herself. Poor Rebbie (the best looking person in the Jackson family) and LaToya.
Janet's album sales are not "completely undercertified" in US either.
She only has had janet. and All For You be uncertified by 1 million each since Soundscan.
Either way none of them are pushing 29 million in the US ALONE.
All of her albums combined haven't sold as much as MJ's first two albums
Thriller (the song) alone is bigger and more iconic than anything Janet has ever done
