AKB48 Members Stabbed and Slashed at Handshake Event

Two members of the all-girl idol group AKB48 and a male staff were injured after an attack by a saw-wielding 24-year-old man. The incident happened at a handshake event in Iwate Industrial Culture Center, Takizawa at around 5 p.m.
The two members who were injured in this attack were Kawaei Rina and Anna Iriyama. The three victims were immediately taken to the hospital and is reported to be in a stable condition.
While Iriyama suffers head and hand injuries, Kawaei Rina and the AKB48 staff member involved in the attack were both stabbed in the hand. The exact extent of their injuries is unclear at the moment.
The terrible injuries were cause by a 24-year-old man who managed to enter AKB48's handshake event with a hand saw. The assailant began attacking people with the saw, creating a horrorific scene for those in attendance.
The assailant has been taken in by police and is currently being held for questioning. He is reportedly being charge with attempted murder.
