I mean Jlaw at that time can never be as perfect as whatever silly standard Rebecca Romijin built to that character she portrayed for the fans. What Jlaw gave to that character was a different angle to the side of Mystique of a time before she came in full circle to the character she is most known for of an era the original series started.
And sorry2say, Jlaw's portrayal is going to be the new standard. Mystique was a complicated character to begin with. Remember how she gave away Nightcrawler just like that. You just can't explain it with "oh well Mystique is a cold blooded assassin". That would cheapen her character even more...

yes. I watch most of ha movies and I think she's a very one dimensional overacting overrated actress. So I guess I'm waiting to see that "new standard" . Disappointing so far
