But weighting classes would probably do the same thing and remove the valedictorian and salutatorian from their positions, also. You just chose a different way to do it
My school was hard and a bunch of kids transferred there for the senior year from much easier schools where they had 3.5s and up for doing nothing so they only qualified to take classes meant for sophomores and juniors at my school. If my school hadn't knocked them down, a bunch of them would have graduated above people who went to a harder school AND took much higher-level classes
