IDK if it works with a gif. I'll try it and see. If anything, you can post that same picture and I'll make it transparent and then you can have someone else put on the gif.

If you make a new layer on top of all the frames in the gif with a mask blocking out the white part, then re-export as a gif, it should make the white transparent

But it definitely works better with pics like this of someone in front of a solid color:
