Any momentum she had was completely ruined by her DWUW fiasco. Swapping the single at the last minute threw her off her focus. It's clear that she had everything planned out for Venus. The fashion, the X Factor performances and the fact that she actually planned the video. Couple that on top of the fact that she basically disappeared right in the middle of her era and I wouldn't be surprised if the GP didn't even know the girl had a new single out.
Because the production is dated and the lyrics are NOT GP-friendly, since few people would use/sing the lines "I wanna be that guy, the girl under you, guy"
Everything on BTW was retro. Everything on ARTPOP is dated. There is a fine fine line and she crossed it.
I'm a Gaga fan and I do really like G.U.Y. but it's not what radio wants. In the last few years she's done what she wanted and it's been wildly successful. With ARTPOP it's like she's painfully following what she thinks people want, but no one's been checking pop divas for an "EDM" (and I put that in quotes because even though she tried nothing on ARTPOP is true EDM) album for a few years now.
She needs to release her jazz album and go back to 80's rock. No one else is doing it and it's what she's good at.
It was just a song they put out to show off her vocals.
No but I really don't know. Maybe it wasn't a good idea for her to go on that era hiatus/blackout before they released it. Maybe its lyrical content was a bit too much. I guess its just time for them to move on from ARTPOP (but I want Gypsy to have its chance )
No radio support. The song got 1M update one day and raised to top 200 and then fell back. Just a comparison Birthday was getting bigger radio updates than GUY and it was at 800-900 on Itunes.. GUY was top 300 and radio just refused to play it.
Another thing is the video came too early and no momentum since Gaga went on a blackout in the middle of her era
illuminati contract ran out
and the fact it was getting no spins...

lol nearly everyone was here for it, explains 400 k + view thread in just a few days and the fact ATRL went on lock down because of the release of the video alone.
