I find it really pathetic how people come in a thread with some pages in and act like it's all a mess to contribute to their egotistic idea of being smarter than it all without actually sharing their opinion so they can't get clocked. I see you girl

They are just words though. Mean ones, yes. But if you get hurt by those words, you're just letting those words define you. Ru is just saying whatever you are that one should be 100% comfortable in their own skin and ignore the ignorant people.

People are NOT going to change and stop calling people slurs. It's human nature that people will always have something to say. Instead of saying how hard it is to be trans and blame people calling you empty slurs like "tranny", trans people should own the fact that they are trans, and show that they don't care what anyone else thinks about what they are. Ru isn't being delusional, but brutally honest and I applaud him for that

My points before I leave this thread and stop checking it:

1. There is a huge difference between using something as a term of endearment and using it as hate.
2. Drag queens have EVERY right to say those words.
3. Idc if I get called a ****** bc this isnt kindergarten
4. People acting like this is a huge deal are putting the attention away from the real issues
5. You're gonna have a LOT of problems in life if words are drastically affecting you

What I think is being missed is that it's not only words that trans people deal with.
They are more discriminated against than gays are yes words only do so much but words have also put bills in motion.

The power of words is more powerful than some give it credit for.

It's been that way for a long time unfortunately. Most gays couldn't care less about the T in LGBT; they might not necessarily be genuinely transphobic in the sense that they hate trans people, but if they heard someone whose not gay say *** or ****** as a joke they'd rightfully be upset because it's horrible and offensive, but if someone says tranny/shemale/etc. it's perfectly fine - it's just a joke and those are just words, trans people are just "too sensitive"! Ru's continual dismissal of the trans community's feelings about it only makes people like Blatboy feel like they can use those slurs and trivialize issues within the trans community.

I dunno if this is going to make me sound very...offensive? but these continuing disagreements and the need for the Trans community to label the non-trans as Cis makes me feel that they're better off having their own separate group outside of the LGB. We are clear way too Cis to understand their struggle.

Apparently they're the same thing and all of us who thought they were completely different just need to get educated. I guess all those trans activists constantly trying to drill it into people's heads that they're different things are confused.

What does that have to do with RuPaul using the word Tranny or any drag queen using that term? You're taking this into a whole other tangent and trying to create a bigger issue then what it actually is. Yes, transgender people are probably the worst treated group in America, but using the word tranny or not using the word tranny isn't going to change that.

The problem is, with you type of people. You don't go for the actual issues, but try to fight against the smallest things and turn every little phrase into something so pointless that nothing gets fixed. Instead of getting upset about a drag queens vocabulary, get upset about how transgender people are mistreated in the work force or public life. These things don't get solved by fighting RuPaul on it.

Honestly, all these "offensive slurs" don't mean **** and ppl need to stop wasting their time on it. If someone is trying to be rude and calling you a ****** pay them dust bc they're wasting their time bc it doesn't mean **** and their ignorant. But if someone like RuPaul is saying "tranny" in a non-malicious way why get riled up about that? He's absolutely right, ppl make themselves victims. We're better than that.
